Inspired by chintz textile designs i am trying to mix imaginary flower motifs ,improvise on them .. and add realistic elements to create a contrast and a harmony between the real and the imaginary ..:)
The chintz is a type of painted textiles made in India well before the arrival of the Europeans in India ,for the south east Asian and the domestic market .Later when exported to Europe from around 1600 ,Indian textiles quickly captivated the market and put chintz at the centre of a revolution in dress and furnishing in the seventeenth and the eighteenth centuries . They incorporated many elements of Europeans designs and played an important part both aesthetically and politically .
